High-rise Gardening

High-rise living in sweltering, sandy Dubai can make simple tasks, such as keeping a garden, quite challenging. Isaac is determined, however, that we will have a glorious herb garden, so today he set to the task of planting one- in our bedroom=). The cats showed far too great an interest in the plants for Isaac's liking, so the planter is now out on the balcony. We'll see how long these little starters can last in the heat and silty-aired environment...

Basil, chives, sage, and thyme make up our little garden

Snoopy Safa was very interested in the plants

Mmmm... turns out he is a basil muncher, just like Miller!

Of course, Miller couldn't resist the temptation for a little nosiness and basil sampling

My proud gardener!

He pitifully mourned the loss of his new snack/plaything for quite some time

It's been a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing weekend. On the drive home Thursday afternoon we decided that we wanted to test our painting skills with some water colors. So, when we got home, we cleared off the dining room table, and painted away for a few hours.

My first painting of the evening... little Safa

And next, a toucan... my favorite thing to paint, for some odd reason

you need to get those kitties their own little plot of green. They look so sad to have lost their little junglescape. Plus, basil breath is good right?
