When you decide that you need decorations for your classroom, it's nice to have 90 artists on hand to do the work for you. With Halloween quickly approaching, and no decorations up to celebrate the festivities, I hired all 5 of my Thursday classes to create their own Halloween decorations to be hung up in the room. The result is an art room that is as festive as you can imagine for Halloween. The students were very creative in making all kinds of decor from bats, to pumpkins, and to witches... among many other things. Since it is an American school, Halloween is still a prominent celebration. Even though we don't have much of a harvest to celebrate out here in the desert, we still keep it real with Halloween.

Lots of great crafts hanging from the ceiling. Bats, witches, pumpkins, spiders... they did it all.
We broke out all of the crafts and made a huge mess... awesome.
We gave the students a little bit of guidance and some ideas for crafts, but they did the majority of the creative work and made all sorts of variations of the classic Halloween icons.
This bat now greets visitors to the art room, as it hovers over the entrance to the room.
Halloween always needs a happy vampire bat.
And the finished scarecrow! It stretches to about 4 feet in length and is the centerpiece to our Halloween decor. Behind it you can see some of the crafts being posted to the wall. At the end of the day the back wall was covered in bats, pumpkins, and tons of other Halloween decor.
