Universal issues
One of the most important parts of an international experience is realizing that some of the same problems we deal with back home in the States are the same problems no matter where you go. In this case, breast cancer is just as dangerous in the Middle East as it is in the USA. Wednesday was breast cancer awareness day, and the community pulled together an amazing effort to raise money for research. On the 26th they also had a walk-a-thon to raise money. At school it was an all day event, with these huge pink buses visiting various parts of the campus throughout the day. In order to raise money at the school, parents organized a huge bake sale with tons of wonderful treats to choose from. It's events like this that does your heart good, and inspires you to get involved. Check it out =)
Have you ever seen a bigger pink bus? Or, for that matter, a pink bus in general?
Students and staff wore pink shirts to school in support of the awareness day.
This kiddos were allowed to climb the bus and heckle teachers from the top level. Good thing they didn't allow them to bring their cupcakes up with them.
